Defending Our Freedom On The Internet!

The Federal Communications Commission will now have a hard time trying to set up net neutrality rules once Sen. John McCain has introduced the Internet Freedom Act.
The senator explained that the rules the FCC called upon are in fact a first distinctive sign of “government takeover” and added that apart form suppressing Internet innovation, these prescriptions would depress the U.S. job market even more.
“Today I’m pleased to introduce the Internet Freedom Act of 2009 that will keep the Internet free from government control and regulation. It will allow for continued innovation that will in turn create more high-paying jobs for the millions of Americans who are out of work or seeking new employment.
McCain stated. “Keeping businesses free from oppressive regulations is the best stimulus for the current economy.”
Another aspect that concerned McCain very much was the inclusion of wireless broadband providers in the same net neutrality proposed rules. He believes that it is precisely the lack of interference from the government that made the wireless industry develop itself at such incredible rates these past two decades.
Even though there have been clear dissents on the matter, including the opposition against FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski’s proposal by two Republican commissioners, the formal rule-making process was voted.
Net neutrality rules are meant to ensure broadband subscribers access to legal sites and services that compete with the broadband companies core businesses.
Or at least that’s what they should stand for.
